The result of 2009 "HEP Cup" China Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling (CUMCM) announced recently that ZJSU students Pan Jiashun (School of Economy), Bao Fuguang and Zhang Lei (School of Computer Science and Information Engineering) earned the First Prize outfooting more than 15 thousand teams nationwide. There were totally 21 teams of ZJSU won the competition: 1 National First Prize, 1 National Second Prize, 2 Provincial First Prize, 9 Provincial Second Prize and 8 Provincial Third Prize.
Held every September, CUMCM was co-sponsored by the Higher Educational Department of Ministry of Education and China Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (CSIAM). CUMCM is designed for high school students and college undergraduates to develop and advance their interdisciplinary problem-solving skills and the competence in creativity, which challenges group students to clarify, analyze, and propose solutions to open-ended problems.
