ZJSU gifted a Hornbeam tree to the University of Sussex for its 60thAnniversary celebrations recently. Professor Richard Follett (Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellor International), Professor Ian Wakeman (Head of the School of Engineering and Informatics), Professor Romeo Glovnea (Head of the Department of Engineering and Design), Professor Maziar Nekovee (Joint Dean of the Sussex Artificial Intelligence Institute), Gemma Proudley (Head of Global Engagement) and Li Camm (Head of Global Partnerships) attended the Tree-planting Ceremony to welcome the gift.
In 2020, ZJSU collaborated with the University of Sussex and launched The Sussex Artificial Intelligence Institute of ZJSU, a landmark in the cooperation and exchanges between the two universities. On the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of the University of Sussex, ZJSU gifted a Hornbeam tree for celebrations. The Hornbeam tree makes people feel solid and decorous for its dense branches and leaves, round and full crown, tall and majestic body. It has been carefully chosen and serves as a symbol of pragmatic, successful and stable cooperation between the two sides. As it implies, the two universities will carry out multi-level cooperation in various fields, delivering benefits to the faculties and students of the two sides. Meanwhile, the friendly partnership will also flourish with the thriving of the Hornbeam tree.
The University of Sussex is one of the top research universities in the UK and the World's Top 100 universities. Approved by the Ministry of Education of China, the Sussex Artificial Intelligence Institute ZJSU, the first of its kind in China, offers two bachelor programs in Robotics Electrical Engineering and Communications Engineering, and two master programs in Robotics Autonomous Systems and Artificial Intelligence and adaptive systems. The institute will integrate disciplinary advantages and characteristics of the two sides, pay great efforts in premium human resources, innovation industry, digital scientific research and think tanks, so as to establish a highland for artificial intelligence talents cultivation.
