President Yu Jianxing Visited University of Macau and Delivered a Report on Data Governance

Invited by the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau of Macao, Wang Jian, founder of Alibaba Cloud and member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and President Yu Jianxing spoke at the seminar about‘Data sharing and Innovation in Government Management’. They delivered a speech on ‘City Brain and Urban Governance ’and ‘Data Governance in Contemporary China’. The seminar was held in University of Macau and was attended by around 200 people, including government consultants and heads of various public departments.


President Yu pointed out that data governance has been a hot topic in global theory and practice of public administration , and it is also a key content of current reform of public governance in China. The introduction of digital technology into public governance can reduce the information asymmetry between governance supply and demand, which partially replaces requirements for governance entities and improves the effectiveness of public governance to a certain extent. In the speech, he first analyzed the concept of data governance and its significance  theoretically , and then introduced the current cutting-edge practice of data governance in China: ‘overall smart governance’ in the modern government reform. He also discussed the application of data governance in specific scenarios, including applications in economic regulation, market supervision, public services, social governance, and emergency management, and the future of data governance reform in China.


Accompanied by Song Yonghua, President of University of Macaw President Yu visited the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine , State Key Laboratory of Analog and Mixed-Signal VLSI and State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City. They negotiated the intention of cooperation between the two universities, with a view to making further cooperation and exchanges in research and other academic activities.
