On the morning of March 22th, ZJSU Nepal Center was officially established on the campus of ZJSU. Chen Shoucan, the President of ZJSU, and Ram Kantha Makaju Shrestha, the Vice President of Kathmandu University jointly unveiled the nameplate for the center under the witness of Leela Mani Paudyal, the Nepal’s ambassador to China.
At the ceremony, Chen Shoucan said that China and Nepal are good neighbors connected by mountains and rivers. The two countries enjoy a long history of friendly exchanges and cultural affinity. ZJSU is a pioneer in adopting the mode of establishing two centers in the separate universities. The two universities will conduct comprehensive research with a view to helping Chinese people know better about Nepal, deepening the friendship of the two peoples and promoting Sino-nepalese partnership to a new height.
Ram extended great congratulation and gratitude to the foundation of Nepal Center. He said that China and Nepal boast a good relationship in terms of geography, culture, trade and people-to-people exchanges.The foundation of Nepal Center will overcome the barriers of languages and Himalayas, promoting more young people of the two countries to strengthen communications.
Bim Prasad Shrestha, Head of Vice Chancellor’s Office of External and Global Engagement, Wang Shengli, Chinese Director, Confucius Institute at Kathmandu University, Directors and related staff from International Office and School of Laws of ZJSU , representative of Honorary Consulate of Nepal In Shanghai and senior partner representative of 6.Zhejiang Brighteous Law Firm attended this opening ceremony.
In the afternoon, Jin Yibin, Chairman of ZJSU Council met the guests. Chairman Jin firstly expressed his congratulations on the foundation of Nepal Center, and gratitude to Leela Mani Paudyal for his special visit. He said that exchanges of China and Nepal could be traced backed to ancient times. As the bridge between China and Nepal, the Nepal Center further shortened the distance of two universities. Jin Yibin also expressed the intention to cooperate with Kathmandu University in teaching and scientific research, teacher training, and student exchanges. He hoped that both sides would work together to make the Nepal Center a national research base.
Paudyal also expressed his confidence and support for cooperation between the two sides. He hoped that the both parties should increase exchanges, create mutual benefits, and establish flexible cooperation projects under the new historical conditions, laying solid foundation for further cooperation.
