On Oct. 27th, delegation from J. F. Oberlin University led by Prof. Takayasu Mitani, President of J. F. Oberlin University, visited ZJSU. Chen Shoucan, President of ZJSU met the guests. Directors of International Office and the School of Oriental Language and Culture also attended the meeting.
On behalf of ZJSU, Chen Shoucan expressed his warmest welcome to the delegation. After a brief introduction on the development of ZJSU, Chen highlighted great progress made in the construction of professional characteristics and strength of the School of Oriental Language and Culture. He hoped to deepen cooperative partnership continuously and to expand more substantive cooperation on the exchanges of teachers and students. In response, President Takayasu Mitani introduced the historical development of J. F. Oberlin University and said that it was with ZJSU that he signed his first inter-university cooperation agreement as President of J. F. Oberlin University. The historical connections between J. F. Oberlin University and China are closely linked as well as the emotional bonds between itself and ZJSU. Takayasu Mitani also expressed his agreement to President Chen's views on strengthening multi-cooperation and hoped to discuss in detail about the cooperation with directors from the School of Oriental Language and Culture. At last, further discussion on cooperative programs of cultivating master's and doctoral students was conducted and consensus on deepening and expending cooperation between the two universities has been reached.
J. F. Oberlin University, with its main campus located in Machida, Tokyo, is a private university founded in 1946 by Mr. Yasuzo Shimizu. There are several divisions in J. F. Oberlin University, such as College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business Management, College of Health and Welfare, College of Performing and Visual Arts, College of Global Communication, Graduate School of Business Administration, Graduate School of International Studies and Graduate School of Higher Education Administration, with a total population of over 9,000 students—more than 500 foreign students included and over 1,300 teaching staff. So far, 8 exchange students from ZJSU have been sent to J. F. Oberlin University since the two universities established cooperation in 2012.
