Delegation from University of Strathclyde Visited ZJSU
 

On October 19th, delegation from University of Strathclyde led by Douglas Brodie, Vice-President of University of Strathclyde, visited ZJSU. Dai Wenzhan, Vice-President of ZJSU met the guests. Directors of International Office and the School of Foreign Languages also attended the meeting.

On behalf of ZJSU, Dai Wenzhan expressed his warmest welcome to the delegation. After briefly introducing the history and the strategy of educational internationalization of ZJSU, Dai highlighted the progress made in discipline construction, faculty construction and educational internationalization, especially in the aspect of professional strength construction and student cultivation of the School of Foreign Languages. He hoped to carry out more substantive cooperation on the exchanges of students, teachers and joint research between the two universities through the School of Foreign Languages. In response, Douglas Brodie introduced the basic situation and educational philosophy of University of Strathclyde and described the possibility of further cooperation between the two universities due to many discipline similarities. He said that it was an honor to visit ZJSU during his first visit to Hangzhou, although he had been to China for more than ten times. He expected to take more visits to ZJSU in the future to promote more exchanges and cooperation between the two universities.

University of Strathclyde is located in the downtown of Glasgow, which is on the west coast of Scotland, with a history that could date back to 1796. When established, the university came up with the philosophy of building “a place of useful learning” for all - regardless of gender or classes, which was unprecedented of that time. There are four faculties in University of Strathclyde, namely, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and Strathclyde Business School, with a total student number of over 22,000. The University of Strathclyde has been honored with the prestigious British University of the Year awarded at the Thames Higher Education Awards, which is one of the highest honors in the field of higher education. Also, its business school has been ranked 1st for many times in U.K.’s higher education university rankings with three International business certifications awarded by AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA.
